Fred Sablon’s journey as a photographer is a fascinating blend of passion, experience, and evolution.

Born in the late 1970s in Belgium, his love for photography started at the young age of 14, when his grandmother gifted him his first silver process camera, a humble box camera that would set the foundation for his artistic path. This early exposure to the craft quickly sparked a lifelong passion.

Fred's formal education in photography came through the prestigious Photographic School of Brussels (Inraci), from which he graduated in 2000.

His early career was shaped by six intensive years as a press photographer, where he covered global hotspots like Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, and the United States. These experiences, often in harsh or politically charged environments, taught him the true essence of life, both in its beauty and its brutality. His work during this time earned him a place in major international publications and solidified his reputation as a skilled visual storyteller.

However, in 2007, he shifted his focus toward a different kind of photography, one that emphasized the purity of the image rather than the urgency of the moment. He ventured into the worlds of fashion, advertising, and architecture, tackling more conceptual and creative assignments. His technical expertise and ability to capture compelling visuals made him a sought-after photographer in these industries.

After more than two decades of working across various genres, he felt the need to embark on a new creative direction. This led him to produce more personal and artistic projects, with a focus on limited-edition works that moved away from commercialized photography. In 2015, he introduced his first major personal series, The Walkins, followed by Silence Tchernobyl in 2016. These works were deeply evocative and challenged traditional perceptions, attracting both admiration and intrigue.

Today, he continues to push the boundaries of visual storytelling, working within the hospitality and food & beverage industries for several international groups. His unique perspective, honed over years of diverse experience, allows him to capture the essence of spaces.

Fred Sablon’s body of work reflects his journey from photojournalism to fine art, blending technical mastery with deep human insight, and today, he remains an influential voice in the world of contemporary photography.
